Local health programs and upgrades to community infrastructure in communities around New Acland Mine are the recipients of the latest round of grants from New Acland's Community Investment Fund.

Local health programs and upgrades to community infrastructure in communities around New Acland Mine are the recipients of the latest round of grants from New Acland's Community Investment Fund. Seven community groups have successfully applied to the fund which is overseen by the mine's Community Reference Group, an advisory body made up of local residents representing different parts of the community including health, education, landholders and local government. New Acland Mine Community Liaison Bec Meacham said the Community Reference Group and the mine were looking forward to seeing the projects grow into fruition in the months ahead. "There is a lot of really great work being done in our community right now, especially in community health and improving community infrastructure," Bec said. "These projects will enable long term benefits and it's really rewarding to see how much time and energy these groups invest in our local area." "We're proud to support locals deliver projects that are important to our community and we're looking forward to seeing what is put forward for our next round of funding in September." The successful applicants were: Oakey Junior Rugby League Club - 2018 Legends of League event Oakey Lions Club - Club Den Upgrades Oakey Men's Shed - Storage and Tool Upgrades Goombungee Public Hall Inc - Kitchen Upgrades Rosalie Shire Historical Society - Shed Upgrades St Matthew's Lutheran Church Hall - Kitchen Refurbishment Oakey Community Care/Oakey Health and Wellness Committee - Oakey Health and Wellness Expo Applications to the next round of funding from the New Acland Community Investment Fund close 30th September 2018.
